Tu Fawning

We carry Tu Fawning's beautiful new album 'A Monument' very close to our hearts, as do their fans - the praise for their record hasn't stopped (see below) and so we feel urged to remind everyone of its beauty. 'Wager' crystalized as one of the outstanding tracks of the album. It has finally found its visual match in this noir dreamscape, filmed and directed by Berlin native Annikki Heinemann, who followed the band in Portland and Berlin over the course of 2 months...

The band will also be embarking on a EU tour this month with their glorious live act. All dates after the jump.

"Wager", the album's clear triumph, is the closest the band allowed itself to a pop single, with the giddy guitar crunch of the pre-chorus leaping straight into the wide-open arms of the big, hopeful chorus: "There'll be no confusion with this one, I'm certain." Overall, A Monument inverts the group's earlier approach, allowing the atmospherics to act in service of the songs rather than necessitating the whole endeavor." Pitchfork

"A Monument is a step forward for a highly talented group of musicians, and with gems like “Build a Great Cliff” and “Wager”, it is clear that they are capable of achieving great things." popmatters

"Tu Fawning has evolved from the sound of attending a funeral on Hearts on Hold, to the sound of throwing a carnival in a funeral parlor on A Monument. There’s a lot of life here to be had, and it’ll only get better." Consequence of Sound

"a collection of slow, rich and dark stories from the Portland underground that draw you in, only to hold you firmly in their grasp for 45 very entertaining minutes." the line of best fit
